Work / Tools & Pipeline
MCA Editor
A free, open-source Python editor that runs inside Maya, Unreal Engine and NVIDIA Isaac Sim, with one workflow across all three.
ProblemEvery tool has its own bad script editor
Maya's Script Editor, Unreal's Python console and Isaac Sim's built-in editor all work differently, and none of them is a good place to write real code. Technical artists end up switching between a text editor and the app, pasting code back and forth and hunting for errors in a log.
BuiltOne editor, inside three apps
MCA Editor is a Python editor that runs inside the app you're working in, with the same editor and workflow in each:
- Maya 2024–2026 (PySide2 and PySide6)
- Unreal Engine 5.5–5.7
- NVIDIA Isaac Sim 6.x: docks natively, supports top-level
await, and shows Isaac Sim's own log
It has a quick script mode and a full project mode with a file tree and tabs, context-aware completion, Python and MEL highlighting, project-wide find and replace, and an output panel with full stack traces. A plugin architecture lets studios extend it, and it connects to AI tools such as Claude, Cursor and VS Code Copilot.
Isaac SimBuilt to learn the platform, then used for real work
I added Isaac Sim support while getting hands-on with the platform, then used it to build Porch Watch, a synthetic-data project that brings MetaHumans from Unreal into Isaac Sim via USD.
